TIME TO CELEBRATE!

We are excited to announce The Carl Sandburg Home National Historic Site’s 55th Anniversary Celebration on Sunday, October 15, 2023. The free celebration will be held at the park’s amphitheater from 3 – 5pm and is open to the public. The Gathering Dark, a popular local band (https://thegatheringdark.com) will entertain during the festivities. More information from the park will be coming soon. Check back at https://www.nps.gov/carl/index.htm.

TAKE A HIKE. SAVIOR THE VIEW.

While the bridge at the front lake remains closed, consider taking a 1-mile hike to the top of Big Glassy Mountain. Along the way you will pass several benches and most likely a few dogs and other hikers. At the top are benches and boulders for resting and taking in the panoramic view of Blue Ridge Mountains. By parking at the “Hikers Lot” (pass the front entry and just around the bend on Little River Road) you’ll have easy access into the park and up to the barn. From there, a short path leads to the woods and trail heads. Enjoy!
